HIV/AIDS awareness rally
SCAN-INDIA organised an HIV/AIDS awareness rally on 1 December 2006 for World AIDS Day. Around 1000 school students and teachers participated in the rally. The cultural troupe from SCAN-INDIA performed street plays and sang awareness songs. The school students distributed pamphlets on the causes and consequences of HIV/AIDS.

Training on solid waste management and organic cultivation
A one day workshop on solid waste management and environmental awareness programme was held on 20th November 2006. This programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India through the nodal agency Deccan Development Society. Around 300 women from self-help groups participated in the programme. There was a practical demonstration on solid wastes and organic manure production.
